Chatham-Kent Police have closed the book on a startling discovery in Chatham.

Police were called to a Lorne Avenue home Sunday afternoon after bones were found under a porch.

Authorities say the find was photographed and sent to an anthropologist, who determined the remains were animal in nature, not human.

However, officials say the homeowner made the right call by contacting police and advise anyone in a similar situation to not touch any found bones or disturb the area, and call police so officers can secure the scene for further investigation.
