A local Councillor will be carrying the Progressive Conservative banner into a by-election to replace former MPP Monte McNaughton.
The Ontario PC Party held a nomination meeting in Strathroy this past weekend, with Steve Pinsonneault selected as the party’s candidate in the riding of Lambton-Kent-Middlesex over Neal Roberts, chief of the Middlesex London Paramedic Service.
Pinsonneault has represented Ward 3/East Kent on Chatham-Kent Council since 2006, owns Pinsonneault Enterprises and Steve’s Sign Shop in Thamesville, and serves as a volunteer fire fighter.
“There’s nothing more important than the health and prosperity of our residents,” Pinsonneault said in a news release. “I’m running with the Ontario PC Party in order to continue building the Wallaceburg hospital, create good-paying local jobs and fight to make life more affordable for the people of our community.”
While a date for the upcoming by-election has yet to be set, Premier Doug Ford is required to call a by-election within six months of an MPP position becoming vacant, as per the Legislative Assembly Act. McNaughton’s last day in office was October 6, 2023.
