Tune in daily all this week at 3:40 pm to check out Harrow’s MICHAEL URE on the Local Spotlight during Weekdaze with Jay!
Michael Ure has always been asked the same question.
“Why country music?”
The 19-year-old CMT “Big In A Small Town” Top 30 finalist is quick to respond every time. He’s a country guy. Embracing the stereotypical “country” role, Michael has a deep love for his guitar, family, hometown roots, even his pick-up truck and singing around a campfire.
“There ain’t nothing wrong with country roots.”
That’s the response given to that same popular question. This time in the form of song – Michael Ure’s debut single “Country Roots”.
Country Roots is the same song that garnered the Top 30 finish for his music video accompanying the tune through CMT’s “Big In A Small Town” special and contest.
“Just being selected in the top 30 contestants in Canada is an accomplishment in itself,” Ure, entering his third year in the nursing program at the University of Windsor, recently told the Windsor Star. “I want to keep getting better and learn from people. It would mean a lot to win because I really want to turn my hobby of music into a career.”
Michael credits his family and their overwhelming support in the early stages of that very career. His parents own and operate Harrow’s “Ure’s Country Kitchen” where the dream began for their son, growing up with country music.
