Municipal officials will discuss whether to bring in a consultant to review the size of its council, as well as its ward boundaries at tonight’s council meeting.

Councillor Rhonda Jubenville is bringing in a motion to have a consultant take a look at Chatham-Kent’s council setup and come back with recommendations before the 2026 municipal election.

Jubenville’s motion proposes that the review works toward decreasing council’s size and redefining the current ward boundaries to include both Chatham and rural areas in each ward.

Chatham-Kent has undergone review regarding its boundary setup and council size a couple of times since amalgamation in 1998, and both times the council of the day decided to file away the findings and keep things status quo.
