The shooting death of a Windsor man in Erie Beach is now being treated as a homicide by police.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a residence on Towanda Boulevard at around 12:40 a.m. on Tuesday for a man who had sustained a gunshot wound.

A Windsor man, who has now been identified as 40-year-old Michael Allard, was found dead at the home.

While investigators initially called the death suspicious, police announced Thursday that the death is now considered a homicide following a “thorough examination.”

Authorities said an arrest has not been made in connection to the death, but it is considered an isolated incident with no concern for public safety.

Police have not provided any details about potential suspects in the ongoing investigation.
