Time is running out for dog owners in Chatham-Kent who still need to purchase tags for their pets.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent issued a reminder to dog owners this week that they have until March 31 to get their 2024 dog licence tags to avoid paying late fees or possible fines.

Tags are required for dogs over the age of four months and local residents cannot have more than three dogs per household.

The cost to purchase tags is $29 or $39.50 if your pet hasn’t been spayed or neutered.

Anyone buying tags after this month will have to pay a $10 late fee and owners caught without up-to-date tags could face a $240 fine.

All funds raised from dog tags are used to offset the cost of shelter operations, animal control services and adoption needs for pets.

Dog tags can be purchased over the phone, by mail, in person at the CK animal shelter on Park Avenue East, or online by clicking here. For more information, click here.
