A warning from Chatham-Kent Police to think before you act – or record.

Just after 8:30 Sunday night, a concerned citizen called 9-1-1 to report someone screaming for help from a moving vehicle on Tweedsmuir Avenue East in Chatham.

Officers responded and found the suspect vehicle, but say it turns out the teenage occupants were taking part in a TikTok video challenge.

Authorities want to remind everyone about exercising caution and responsibility when participating in challenges that may disrupt public order, incite panic, or prompt unnecessary contact with emergency services.

Officials say these type of stunts not only impose significant stress and concern on individuals who witness them, but also divert emergency resources that could otherwise be needed for actual emergencies.

Two 17-year-olds and an 18-year-old in the vehicle were given a warning and allowed to go on their way.
