Providence Board Names New Superintendent of Education

Nicole Larocque, newly appointed Superintendent of Education, Providence Catholic School Board.

The local French Catholic school board has a new Superintendent of Education.

Nicole Larocque has been named to the position at the Providence board. She has 25 years of experience in the education sector, all within the Providence Catholic School Board, and has been serving as a principal since 2009.

Officials with the board say Larocque has worked with various stakeholders in the education sector, at both regional and provincial levels, in the development and implementation of numerous initiatives to ensure the best academic performance for students.

“Nicole Larocque has an excellent pedagogical background, unparalleled leadership skills and a deep conviction in the development and success of every student,” said Carolyn Bastien, Director of Education of the Conseil scolaire catholique Providence. “She has also demonstrated excellent skills in supporting the smooth running of the schools. We are confident that Mrs. Larocque will rise to the challenges ahead.”

In her new role, Larocque will oversee the implementation of the kindergarten to Grade 6 Student Success Plan, along with school supervision. Additionally, as a system leader in mathematics, she will be responsible for implementing the Action Plan for Success in Mathematics.

She will assume the position of Superintendent of Education starting on April 29, 2024.

The Providence Catholic School Board serves nearly 9,500 students across 23 elementary schools and 8 secondary schools in southwestern Ontario.
