A celebration of Sikh culture will make its way through downtown Chatham this weekend.
The first Nagar Kirtan to be held in Chatham-Kent will take place on Sunday, April 28th, starting at 10 o’clock. The procession is a tradition in Indian religions, involving the processional singing of holy hymns.
In Sikhism, the event often coincides with the festival of Vaisakhi, celebrating the spring harvest.
The parade will begin at the Sikh temple at 210 King Street East in Chatham and make its way to Tecumseh Park, where more celebrations will begin at 2pm.
