Mayor Randy Hope says he is not surprised that HGS Canada is considering Chatham-Kent for their next expansion: “Our skilled workforce and growing contact centre industry in Chatham-Kent makes this community an attractive choice. The positions offered by HGS Canada require basic computer knowledge and communication skills. They will open many doors for citizens in this community and broaden our area’s economic diversity. A more diversified economy also means more opportunities for training and education.”

“I have heard nothing but great things about this company,” added Hope. “A good turn-out by job seekers should help them decide in favour of Chatham-Kent.”

HGS Canada’s groundwork for this expansion into Ontario began earlier this year when the company held prospective talks with a number of potential locations. “The response we have received in the area so far has been very supportive,” said Ross Beattie, President & CEO – HGS Canada. “Our Team is looking to meet many skilled people to help us in our selection process. Although we are a global company we pride ourselves on being very open, honest and community minded. Anyone wanting to find out about us should visit our website www.teamhgs.com to get a flavor of what we are about.”

Expansion is nothing new for HGS Canada, who have opened three sites in Ontario in the past 2 years. 2010 saw the opening of Thunder Bay and last year HGS opened their tenth operation in North Bay and their 11th earlier this year in Belleville.

“We are very excited that HGS Canada has selected Chatham-Kent as one of two communities to consider as expansion sites,” said Michael Burton, Director of Economic Development Services. “HGS Canada began its site selection process earlier this year. In August, we learned Chatham was in the running. It was difficult to contain our excitement. Preparations for the job fair began immediately and company officials gave us the go-ahead to share the exciting news. ”

We are at crucial crossroads,” added Burton. “We encourage all job seekers to attend the job fair and apply for these exciting positions. “
