Two arrests have been made in connection with the death of a woman in Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers began a homicide investigation on Tuesday, however, authorities have not released any details about where the victim was found or the cause of death.

The woman’s age and name have also been withheld.

“To preserve the integrity of this ongoing investigation limited information will be provided at this time,” police said in a news release.

Police officials said a 44-year-old man and a 59-year-old man, both from Chatham, were arrested shortly before 4 p.m. on Tuesday. They have both been charged with first-degree murder in connection to the death and have been remanded in custody following a court appearance on Wednesday.

While many details remain scarce, police said the incident is considered isolated and there is no threat to public safety.
