A Chatham man has been charged after a failed attempt at playing hide-and-seek with police.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to an unspecified disturbance on Holden Street in Dresden at around 11 p.m. on Tuesday.

Officers arrived at the scene and located and arrested the accused who had been attempting to hide.

Authorities learned that the man was bound by probation conditions not to associate with the person living at the Holden Street address. Police said a warrant had also been issued for his arrest for failing to attend court in connection to a December 2023 theft investigation.

The 26-year-old Chatham man is now charged with failing to comply with a probation order. He was later released with a court date in July.
