A group of artists from across the globe will be “painting the town” this summer as part of a brand-new event in Chatham.

CK Can Jam will see 11 artists create nine murals in the downtown area from July 15 to 20. Residents will be invited to watch the artists throughout the week as they create the public wall art.

The artists will mainly be using aerosol paint cans, along with a variety of paint mediums.

Event organizer Sarah Steele said she was inspired to hold the event in Chatham-Kent after taking part in a similar event in Windsor.

“It was amazing to work with so many great artists that have had their work featured in countries like Spain, China, Venezuela, Cuba and across the globe,” Steele said in a news release. “The event brought us together as artists, the collaborative effort and opportunity to learn and share different techniques was priceless.”

A free after-party will be held at Son’s Of Kent on July 19 at 5 p.m., which will include a live, interactive art event for the public to enjoy.
