A Chatham-Kent man has been arrested following a disturbance in Merlin.

Chatham-Kent Police responded to Erie Street South just after 9:30 Thursday night and say a man and woman were arguing when the man allegedly threw a steel-toed boot at the woman.

Authorities say further investigation turned up several previous incidents of assault as well.

The 39-year-old accused is now charged with assault, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, break and enter, and two counts of uttering threats.

He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
