Two people are facing charges following an altercation in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent Police officers initially responded to the King Street area just after 11:30 Saturday night.

Authorities say a woman went to a man’s home to collect some personal property when the two got into an argument. The man allegedly blocked the woman from leaving and made threatening comments.

Investigators learned both parties were aware the man was already under court orders not to communicate with the woman following a previous investigation.

The 19-year-old woman was arrested and charged with facilitating a failure to comply with an undertaking.

The following day, the 21-year-old man was also arrested. He’s been charged with failing to comply with an undertaking, assault, uttering threats, and forcible confinement.

Both have been released from custody with conditions and will be back in court next month.
