Two people have been arrested after police were tipped off about suspicious activity in Chatham.

Officers were called to William Street North just after 9 last night and say a man and woman were canvassing the area for concrete work opportunities.

Officers found the pair and say the woman was already wanted by police in connection to an assault investigation dating back to last September. The man was also known to police, and wanted by authorities in Chatham-Kent, Owen Sound, and Saugeen Shores.

The 51-year-old man has now been charged with fraud, while the 31-year-old woman is facing charges of assault with a weapon.

Both were released from custody with future court dates.
