With a general contractor now chosen for the project, construction on the new Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent is expected to begin soon.

Norlon Builders London Ltd. has been awarded the project to build the new 58,000-square-foot facility on McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham.

The new Children’s Treatment Centre is expected to provide additional space to reduce wait times for rehabilitation services such as speech therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and autism services.

“We are thrilled that the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services committed to funding to build the 58,000 sq. ft. facility that will allow children in our community to thrive and succeed,” says Litwin-Makey. “This kind of commitment is unique for the Ministry, and we are highly appreciative of this special support.”

The centre currently provides services to one in five children and youth in Chatham-Kent.

“Our fundraising for the capital project has been very successful, but we have not yet reached our goal,” confirms Mike Genge, President, CTC Foundation. “In October, we are planning two weeks of exciting community events that will help us reach our final goal.”

The Ontario government has committed $842,525 toward the development of the new facility, which has been in the planning stages since 2017.

A celebratory groundbreaking will be held later this summer.
