Flood Watch Continues Along Local Waterways

With heavy rain earlier this week, water levels continue to rise across the region.

Officials with both the Lower Thames Valley and St Clair Region Conservation Authority say there is expected to be localized flooding along local rivers and waterways.

Staff may need to operate the Sixth Street Dam and Pump Station in Chatham, which would include closing the diversion dam in order to keep water levels low on the south side of the city.

Citizens are reminded to avoid watercourses and flooded areas due to dangerous conditions, slippery banks and swift moving water. High water levels and flows are expected to continue through the weekend.

Public Works will be temporarily closing roads that experience flooding. Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue along with Public Works will continue to monitor flooded areas and roadways.
