A 3.6 million dollar cash infusion in the form of federal and provincial grants will help upgrade the Chatham-Kent transit system.
They applied for the grants last May and now the cash has come in.
Anne Marie Millson is the Manager of Linear Assets and Transit and says the money is earmarked for three projects.
New vehicles, information and technology, and upgrades to bus stations and shelters are among the plans.
“ Our terminal in downtown Chatham requires a major renovation. They will also be doing upgrades to their inter urban shelters”.
Or in the case of Wallaceburg a new shelter.
1.9 million dollars will be put toward these projects.
They will be tendering the new vehicles next year
