Thanks to the heavy rain fall to start the weekend The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) has been forced to issue a flood watch for Chatham-kent.

The heavy rainfall has raised water levels and forced the closure one dam already.

The LTVCA has closed the dam at the head of the Indian-McGregor Creek Diversion Channel in an effort to keep things dry in the South end of Chatham.

McGregor Creek and Indian Creek have climbed to 2.6m and have not peaked yet.

Also, the usual warning to stay away from shorelines, rivers, ditches and streams.

There is the always dangerous combination of slippery ground and fast flowing water to be concerned with.
