The Wallaceburg Concert Band has experienced highs and lows this past week.
They received $26,000 dollars in funding to start the week including $19,000 from the municipality.
Then learned from the Lambton-Kent District School Board they were losing their practice facility and a lot of their instruments.
The board is going to re-purpose the music room at WDSS and they can no longer use it.
Director Dave Babbit says they were thrilled with the cash infusion, “ but if we have to spend that money on instruments and the rental cost of a facility, that certainly negates advancing as far as the music.”
He says they will be hard pressed to find a rehearsal facility large enough to handle 80 people and have the proper acoustics.
But, he says, the search is on.
