With Snowmobile Safety Week now underway across the province the OPP has a warning for all participants.
There are 2 leading causes in snowmobile deaths and they have been responsible for all 6 this season.
Unsafe ice, and drugs and alcohol.
In three cases the snowmobilers were on weak ice..2 fell through, and the third was listed as ice related and speeding.
In the other three cases the drivers tested positive for drugs or alcohol.
There were 14 death last season and 9 were related to either unsafe ice or the use of drugs or alcohol.
They are hoping the message will get through that these recurring casual factors as they call them, can end your life.
Snowmobile Safety Week in Ontario runs through January 27th.
