Aarkel Industries is working to get give the local workforce a boost.
Tony Myers says a new pilot project gives hands-on experience to those looking to get into the skilled trades.
Myers says it’s a paid internship, studying at Aarkel rather than a classroom.
“It’s patterned after the program they have at St Clair College in Windsor, which has been very successful for them, but it doesn’t work for Wallaceburg because it’s too far for employees to travel back and forth on a daily basis,” Myers says. “So we’ve brought it back home to Wallaceburg and we hope we’re going to get a good response and if it works, the pilot program will be expanded.”
Anyone who’d like to apply can take their resume to the St Clair Employment Centre on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg and go from there.
