An abandoned home in Wallaceburg has been torn down following a late night fire.

Fire fighters from Wallaceburg, Chatham, Dover, and Tupperville responded to a Water Street property just before midnight on Friday and arrived to find flames coming from the first floor windows and doors.

Officials say crews worked to knock down the flames but were unable to catch the fire before it spread to the attic.

The property owner brought in an excavator the following morning to demolish the building.

No one was hurt and the cause has been listed as undetermined.
