Accused Drug Trafficker Arrested in Chatham-Kent

A West Elgin man is behind bars following a drug bust.

Provincial Police arrested a suspect in Chatham-Kent last Thursday, which was followed by officers carrying out search warrants at two locations in West Elgin and one in Dutton-Dunwich.

Over $2500 in cash and a variety of illicit and prescription drugs were seized.

The accused, a 38-year-old man, is facing several charges:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Other Drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule III substance
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Fail to comply with release order – other than to attend court

The suspect was remanded into custody following a bail hearing.
