Another jump in Chatham-Kent’s COVID numbers today.
Public Health has confirmed 21 new cases and eight recoveries in this morning’s update, raising the total active caseload to 91.
Dr. David Colby said recent spread of the virus, primarily caused by large indoor social gatherings, will likely prompt the province to move Chatham-Kent to at least the Red zone of Ontario’s COVID restrictions, or possibly even back into lockdown. That news is expected to come down later today, and any change would go into effect on Monday.
There is some good news today though as both the CKHA dialysis unit and Copper Terrace outbreaks have been declared over. That leaves just one active outbreak in the municipality, involving an un-named place of worship.
The provincial numbers have spiked as well, with 1745 new confirmed cases today and another 10 COVID-related deaths.
Around the region, Windsor-Essex has 29 new cases today, while Lambton County has added another 35 cases.
