A proposal to hike the agricultural land tax rate to help pay for the upkeep of some crumbling bridges is being put off, at least for now.
Councillor Bryon Fluker’s motion to council last night was withdrawn, but he says he wants to find another way to help maintain rural infrastructure during budget deliberations.
“I’m a bit disappointed, however it still doesn’t change what my plans are,” the West Kent representative says. “We have to find the money in this year’s budget for infrastructure.”
Fluker says he can see how his motion could have caused a divide between rural and urban communities, and invites those with concerns to attend future public meetings on the issue.
