Environment Canada is warning of deteriorating air quality in the Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton areas.
The weather agency has issued a special air quality statement with high levels of air pollution possible Tuesday afternoon and into the evening.
Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations during the day. Moderate to high-risk Air Quality Health Index values are also expected.
As a result, local residents may experience increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath.
Children, seniors, and those with cardiovascular or lung disease are especially at risk.
