Another year of inductions to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame, another swing and a miss for the 1934 Chatham Coloured All-Stars.
The Hall of Fame announced its inductees for 2024 on Tuesday, including former Toronto Blue Jays Jimmy Key and Russell Martin, and former Jays’ president Paul Godfrey, among others.
However, not on the list was the historic local team that was the first all-black team to win a provincial championship in Ontario.
The Baseball Hall of Fame selection committee is made up of 24 members comprised of historians, past inductees, media and baseball executives. To be inducted into the hall of fame, a candidate must receive votes from 75 per cent of the committee members.
The All-Stars were first nominated in 2017 and will remain on the Hall of Fame ballot until 2026.
