A Wallaceburg man is facing charges after allegedly swinging an axe at multiple people while they were in a vehicle.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said the victims were at a Reaume Street address in Wallaceburg the night of February 9 when a man approached their car while yelling and holding an axe. He then struck the vehicle with the axe, causing damage to the windshield.
The victims left the area and contacted police.
Officers identified a suspect but were unable to locate the man. A warrant was then issued for his arrest.
On Thursday at around 10:48 a.m., the suspect turned himself in at police headquarters.
The 38-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and is now charged with mischief and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was released with conditions and a future court date.
