A Belle River man may have picked the wrong person to ask for directions.

Shortly after 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, a man stopped an officer at the corner of Wellington and Fifth Streets in Chatham to ask how to get to Windsor.

The officer suspected the man may have been under the influence of alcohol and was given a roadside sobriety test.

The 59-year-old was arrested, taken to police headquarters for more tests, and charged with having a blood alcohol level over the legal limit. He was released from custody with conditions and a date in court next month.
