Police have located a suspect in Chatham following the theft of nearly three dozen exotic birds in Windsor.
The Windsor Police Service said officers responded to a University Avenue East address in Windsor after three masked men jumped a fence and entered an exotic bird coop on the property the previous evening.
The men made off with 30 exotic birds worth around $30,000, however, one of the birds was killed during the incident.
Officers were able to identify one of the suspects, who was later arrested by the Chatham-Kent Police Service. CK police also recovered 22 of the stolen birds.
The 29-year-old accused is now charged with break-and-enter to commit theft over $5,000, causing unnecessary suffering to an animal, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and wearing a disguise with intent.
A warrant has also been issued for a 19-year-old man, and authorities are working to identify a third suspect.
