A theft at a Chatham business has led to charges for a local man.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a man entered a business on St. Clair Street Tuesday evening, removed several bottles from the shelves and left without attempting to pay.
Officers responded shortly before 8 p.m. and identified a suspect through a description and video surveillance.
Authorities located the suspect walking on Princess Street at around 9:40 p.m. and took him into custody. The man was also under a release and probation order for similar offences.
As a result, the 25-year-old Chatham man is charged with theft and possession of stolen property. He was held pending a bail hearing.
