Alleged Shoplifter Arrested Five Months After Theft

Police have tracked down a suspect in connection with a shoplifting incident that occurred over the summer.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a retail store on Wellington Street West in Chatham on August 26, 2025, at around 6:30 p.m., after a woman concealed merchandise and left without paying.

Using surveillance footage, police were able to identify a suspect and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Officers located and arrested the 34-year-old Chatham-Kent woman on Victoria Avenue at around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. She is now charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, and failing to comply with a probation order.
