Charges have been laid following a shoplifting investigation in Chatham.
According to Chatham-Kent Police, a woman went into a Grand Avenue West business shortly after 6:30 Tuesday evening, filled a bag with merchandise, and left without any attempt to pay.
With the help of video surveillance and witness descriptions, authorities were able to find the accused near in downtown Chatham near the intersection of King Street and Fifth.
The stolen merchandise was recovered and returned to the store.
The 31-year-old Chatham woman is facing charges of theft and possession of stolen property. She was released from custody with conditions and a date in court later this month.
