Police have tracked down an alleged shoplifter following a theft from a Wallaceburg business.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a woman entered a business on July 21 and began removing items from the shelves and placing them in a bag. The woman then allegedly left the store without making an attempt to pay.
Police reviewed the store’s surveillance footage and were able to identify a suspect and issue a warrant for her arrest.
The accused was located and arrested on James Street in Wallaceburg shortly after 9 p.m. on Tuesday. The 35-year-old Chatham-Kent woman is now charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
She was later released from custody with a September court date.
