Police have tracked down an alleged thief following a shoplifting incident in Wallaceburg.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a retail store on McNaughton Avenue on Friday after a man left the store with merchandise without making an attempt to pay.
Using video surveillance footage, police were able to identify a suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The accused had also been under prior court-ordered conditions prohibiting attending the store.
Officers located the 26-year-old Chatham man on Duncan Street on Monday and took him into custody. He is now charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, and failing to comply with an undertaking.
The man was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
