An arrest has been made following a weekend theft.
Police were called to a King Street West business in Chatham Saturday afternoon. Investigators say a man went into the store, spoke to staff, then began loitering around before allegedly taking an item off a counter display and leaving without making any attempt to pay.
With the help of surveillance video footage, police were able to identify a suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest.
Around quarter to nine Sunday morning, an officer spotted the accused on Wellington Street West.
The 49-year-old is charged with theft and possession of stolen property and was released from custody with conditions and a date in court next month.
