Close to $50,000 been raised to support the less fortunate in Chatham-Kent.

Neighbour-Link’s annual Coldest Night of the Year walk officially took place this past Saturday, although it’s a virtual event this year with participants able to do a walk on their own time throughout the month.

135 walkers registered for the event to support programs and services to help those most in need in the community.

The organization had hoped to raise $30,000 to support those experiencing homelessness, but have now surpassed $49,560 in pledges – 165% of their goal – with donations still coming in.
