Just as some Wheatley residents were allowed access to their properties, another gas leak has been reported.
The release took place Sunday at the same site as previous leaks and the August 26th explosion. On site monitoring experts were able to gather more samples for lab analysis, with the gas readings subsiding after about eight hours with no imminent risk outside the evacuation zone.
The most recent leak isn’t entirely unexpected – last month, municipal officials said a pattern had developed, with roughly 40 days between incidents.
Officials say the zone is secure and anyone with a scheduled appointment to access their property will still be allowed in.
