There’s no word yet on what sparked an apartment fire in Chatham.

Fire fighters responded to 99 McNaughton Avenue West just before 6 o’clock Sunday morning.

The building was completely evacuated. Officials say some tenants suffered minor smoke inhalation and were treated at the scene by paramedics, however no other injuries were reported.

Of the municipally-owned building’s 120 units, 90 have been affected by the blaze with numerous residents displaced. An Emergency Operations Centre was established to deal with logistics around the event and to ensure accommodations for vulnerable populations.

Officials from the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office were called to the scene.

No damage estimate has been released at this point.
