A violent confrontation in a Blenheim apartment building landed a local man with charges.

Shortly before 1 o’clock Thursday morning, police were called to a Chatham Street North building. Investigators say a man was upset over noise and began banging on several apartment doors.

One tenant tried to speak with him, but the man allegedly began pushing her down the hallway. After being approached by a second tenant, the accused went back to his own apartment where he argued with his mother and then allegedly grabbed and pushed her.

The 57-year-old is charged with two counts of assault. He was released with conditions and a date in court next month.
