Golf carts will be hitting the road in Erieau this summer.
Last August, Chatham-Kent Council gave the green light to a Golf Cart Pilot Program, allowing golf carts on certain roads within Erieau under specific rules.
Permits are valid now through November 30, with applications available through the Chatham-Kent website or at any municipal office.
Under the pilot program, golf carts can be driven on roads with a speed limit of 50 km/h or under by drivers holding a G-class licence. The minimum age of passengers cannot be below 8 years old, and the number of occupants cannot exceed six people or the number of seats.
Golf carts remain prohibited on municipal roads in all other areas of Chatham-Kent.
