Local public health officials are looking for a passionate gardener to help support local food initiatives.
CK Public Health is looking to fill the role of Volunteer Community Garden Coordinator to support and strengthen community gardens throughout Chatham-Kent.
Officials say the position is an opportunity for residents who are passionate about gardening and community engagement. The Volunteer Coordinator will work with local Site Leaders and CK Public Health staff to help coordinate garden activities, support volunteers, organize resources, and assist with garden maintenance projects.
“Community gardens create opportunities for people to connect, learn new skills, and grow fresh food close to home,” said Councillor Carmen McGregor, Chair of the CK Food Policy Council in a news release. “We’re looking for someone who wants to help these valuable community spaces continue to thrive.”
Public Health officials say the volunteer position provides opportunities to build leadership and communication skills, gain hands-on project experience, and support community well-being. Training and mentoring will be provided.
