Councillor Derek Robertson’s proposal of overhauling the size of council was shot down last night.  Robertson was very vocal about how disappointed he was at the turn of events.  He says council threw away a chance to save hundreds of thousands of dollars by not looking at his motion.

The Conservatives table the budget today.  This will be the last budget before we go to the polls in October.  Promises of help for small business owners and family tax cuts highlight today presentation.

Samsung and Pattern Energy Group say they have entered into a 20 year power purchasing agreement with Independent Electricity System Operators.  The new deal means excess revenue for the municipality and about 200 jobs for the region as well.

It will cost more to take the Walpole Island Ferry tomorrow.  Rates will go to 10 dollars for a one way trip across the St Clair River.
