As local skating clubs and hockey teams wait for word on the extent of damage at Memorial Arena in Wallaceburg, the investigation into Saturday’s fire continues.
Assistant Chief Chris Case says no official cause has been determined.
“The office of the fire marshal was on scene all day on Sunday. They’re going to issue us a report in the next couple of weeks, but for now, we don’t have an update,” says Case. “when we have a fire like that we call the fire marshal, they send down an investigator and an electrical engineer and they haven’t given us a formal cause as of yet. I’m afraid I couldn’t comment on any rumours at this time.
Case says they’re hoping to get a report back from the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office in the next few weeks.
