
A local man has been charged following a mugging at the bus terminal in Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a reported robbery outside the terminal on Wellington Street West shortly before 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to the victim, a man approached and demanded money while holding an unspecified weapon and threatening harm if the victim did not comply. It is unknown if anything was stolen, but no injuries were reported.
Police located a man in the area who matched the suspect’s description and took him into custody.
As a result, a 51-year-old Chatham-Kent man has been charged with robbery with a weapon and uttering threats. He was taken to police headquarters and later released with a future court date.
