Since its opening this past April, the Chatham-Kent Hospice has been kept busy, helping families with end-of-life care.
Executive Director for the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation, Jodi Maroney says it’s been a busy time, but a fulfilling one.
“Hospice is new for all of us, in the community as well as inside, but we’ve been very pleased with the way it’s gone so far,” Maroney says. “We’ve been able to support over 124 families, that’s a little higher than we initially thought it would be, but I think it really shows the need for this home-like hospice care that we can provide here.”
There are more than 200 volunteers that have donated nearly 7,000 hours to the facility.
Union Gas recently donated $20,000 to help support the facility’s volunteer program.
