Arrest Made After Bank Employee Threatened

A local man is facing charges after allegedly threatening a bank teller in Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a bank on Lacroix Street at around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday regarding a disturbance.

According to authorities, a man had attended the bank to request a new bank card and attempted to withdraw money from an account with insufficient funds. When he was denied service, the man became agitated and threatened a staff member.

As a result, a 51-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and is now charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. He was taken to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.
