A local man is facing charges after stolen property from a break-and-enter was found listed for sale online.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a tankless hot water heater was stolen during a break-and-enter sometime between March 21-25.
The victim contacted police again on Monday after identifying a listing on a social media marketplace that matched the description of the stolen item. Authorities were able to trace the listing to a local residence on Longwoods Road in Chatham, where they arrested a suspect and seized the stolen water heater.
As a result, a 34-year-old Chatham man has been charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000 and he has since been released with a future court date.
The stolen water heater has been returned to the rightful owner.
